Lasting Legacies Policies Acknowledgement Form

• The Temple Beth David Board Lasting Legacy Committee, with the approval of the Temple Beth David Board of Trustees will make all decisions as to which elements may be named and the donation required for the naming opportunity. The value assigned to a naming opportunity is arbitrary and not related to the cost of acquisition or construction or maintenance.
• The gifts of more than one donor may be combined to meet the value of the naming opportunity.
• The funds donated for a naming opportunity will be allocated in a manner to be determined solely by the Temple Beth David Board of Trustees.
• The type and design of the plaque placed on named elements named under the Lasting Legacy Program will be uniform. Donors will be consulted regarding the wording for their particular plaque.
• Any naming commitment and the wording of plaques under the Lasting Legacy Program must be reviewed for appropriateness by the Lasting Legacy Committee, with final approval being granted by the Temple Beth David Board of Trustees in consultation with the Rabbi.
• Each donation and naming commitment should be reviewed carefully for full compliance with applicable laws and ethical principles of Temple Beth David and Reform Judaism.
• An element may be named only for a person or persons, living or deceased, unless specifically approved by the Temple Beth David Board of Trustees in consultation with the Rabbi. No element may be named in recognition of a candidate for or holder of elected public office.
• All persons for whom an element would be named must be of such outstanding character and distinction (as determined by the Temple Beth David Board of Trustees in consultation with the Rabbi) that naming a facility after him/her would honor Temple Beth David as well as the honoree.
• The Temple Beth David Board of Trustees reserves the right to refuse any donation at its sole discretion.
• An element becomes reserved upon receipt by the Temple of the Pledged Donation, (or first payment of a multi‐year pledge). The naming plaque for the element will be ordered and dedicated upon receipt of the final payment of the Pledged Donation. The date that appears on the naming plaque will be the month and year it is dedicated, regardless of when the first payment was made.
• The naming plaque will remain on the named element as long as that element remains in service. If the element is destroyed, or removed from service for any reason, the Temple Beth David Board of Trustees at its sole discretion may choose whether or not to replace the element. While making an effort to maintain the older plaque, the Temple Beth David Board of Trustees may offer an
  alternative naming opportunity to the original donor, or seek a new donor for the element.
• Payments on Pledged Donations for elements of more than $5,000 may be made over multiple years, provided each year’s payment is no less than $2,500, however all Pledged Donations must be paid in full within five years of the date the element is reserved.
• Should a donor(s) fail to meet any and all obligations of the Pledged Donation under the Lasting Legacy program in the Naming Opportunity Agreement will cause the donor(s) to be considered in default. Failure to rectify the default within thirty days of receipt of written notice will result in the termination of the reservation for the element. Any funds already donated to Temple Beth David for the naming opportunity will not be returned.
• Temple Beth David reserves the right to un‐name previously‐named elements in circumstances where its best interests are not served by the continued recognition of the names. Elements may be un‐named in the event that the donor(s) are unable to fulfill their pledges, or if significant legal or moral impropriety on the part of the donor(s) renders the donation and/or name(s) subject to reconsideration by the Temple Beth David Board of Trustees.
• Temple Beth David reserves the right to modify or eliminate these policies or portions thereof at any time at the sole discretion of the Temple Beth David Board of Trustees.
