Sisterhood Pechanga Trip

Date: March 6, 2012 8:45am – 5:30pm

Where: Pechanga Resort and Casino (map)

Join the Temple Beth David Sisterhood on March 6, 2012 for a day of fun and entertainment.

A deluxe bus will leave the Temple Beth David parking lot (located at 6100 Hefley Street in Westminster) at 8:45am. In less than half the time it takes you to drive to Las Vegas, you will find yourself at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in beautiful Temecula, CA. With more than 3,400 slot machines, over 130 table games and a state-of-the-art 54 table poker room, Pechanga has it all. (Not familiar with Pechanga Resort & Casino? This event is open to the community, but you must be at least 21 years old (bring a valid driver’s license or other photo I.D). Snacks will be served on the bus. Bus seating is limited and reservations are on a first come basis. The bus will return back to Temple Beth David around 5:00pm. The $20 cost per person includes the bus and, upon arrival, $10 in cash play.

Purim Carnival & Auction

Silent Auction starts at 9 am, followed by Live Auction at 11 a.m. and the Carnival at 11:45 a.m.

Carnival will feature DJ, games, obstacle course/bouncer, velcro climber & activities for all ages. Refreshments include hamburgers, hot dogs, chinese chicken & vegetarian salads & home-baked hamentashen.

Preparing for Passover: Learn to run your own Seder

Date: March 18, 9:00am – 11:30am

Where: Temple Beth David, 6100 Hefley Street, Westminster, CA (map)

Come to Temple Beth David (located at 6100 Hefley Street, Westminster) on Sunday March 18, 2012 at 9am and you can learn how to run your own seder!

Rabbi Nancy Myers will teach the basics of the Haggadah (the prayerbook used at the seder) for those who are beginners as well as those who want to learn a bit more.

There will be a bonus session on how to add creative touches to the service and an hour learning great recipes that will enhance everyone’s celebration of Passover.

All are welcome.

The 1967 Six Day War

Date: March 29, 2012 7pm – 9pm

Guest Lecturer: Dr. Donald Schwartz As part of the on-going Adult Education Program at Temple Beth David, on Thursday evening March 29 at 7pm, Dr. Donald Schwartz, Cal State Long Beach history professor, will give a talk on “Facing Armageddon: Israel and the Six Day War”.

This lecture will address the causes and results of the 1967 Arab-Israeli War and how that conflict has shaped the politics of the Middle East today. It will be held in the Temple Beth David Social Hall located at 6100 Hefley Street, Westminster, CA 92683. A question and answer session will follow.

This event is FREE and open to the entire community.

Life Cycle Reunion Service (Event Year ends in 9 or 0)

Date: April 27th, 2012

Please join us on this date if your event year ended in a 9 or 0.

Have you celebrated a bar/bat mitzvah (adult or youth), confirmation or wedding at Temple Beth David in the last 50 years? Please join us for a Shabbat Reunion.

All those (current and past members) who celebrated an event in a year ending in 9 or 0 (1969/1970, 1979/1980, 1989/1990, 1999/2000, 2009/2010), are invited to join us for our Torah Service on April 27^th.

An Evening with Larry Elder

The Larry Elder Show airs on TALKRADIO 790 KABC. He has written articles that have appeared in L.A. Daily News and Jewish World Review. He has also written “Ten Things You Can’t Say in America,” Showdown,” “What’s Race Got To Do With It” and “Stupid Black Men.”
